Rear brake pedal

Post by SMBH » Tue Jan 06, 2015 5:34 am

Did Honda change the length of the rear brake pedal on the CB72/77

I have a 1964 CB77 and the total length of the rear brake pedal is 61/2 (six and half) inches it seems short no leverage can be applied to the brake.

Brake pedal length

Post by PhilD » Tue Jan 06, 2015 7:01 am

Hi, both my pedals 64 CB72 and CB77 measure 19cm or 7 1/2 inches total length. I'm not aware of any other sizes but don't know whether CL pedals are shorter. If you post a picture of your pedal I'm sure someone with more knowledge will help. Cheers,
PhilD

The early brake pedals were shorter, by roughly an inch, IIRC. I believe 1961 and 1962 had the short pedals.

Yes - I can confirm that the '61 has a shorter pedal.

Mike, if you want a swap I am your man....

Mike sent me his pedal but it turns out that it is not an early 1961 type 'short' pedal but one that has been rather nicely modified.

It is the bottom one of the three here. Top is a standard 'late' CB72 type and the middle is one from my 1961 CB72 project.

Mike's pedal has been rather nicely done and has a modified pivot pin and bronze bush pressed in to the pedal.

If you look closely underneath the pedal you can see the rather neat welding....

If Mike is happy with the swap, I shall keep this one as an interesting piece of workmanship.
