I am very late to the party but.... I bought an NOS muffler from David Silver Spare with the part number for the late one-piece Dream on it. The price was too good to be true and, sure enough, it was too good to be true. Turns out the muffler was actually for a CA175.

I ended up selling it on eBay and got my money back. I would have returned it to David Silver but, it took me several months to figure out there was a problem and then determine what bike the muffler would actually fit (Thanks to G-man and Bill Silver).

I don't mean to dis on David Silver. It is great to have the inventory available and I will buy from them again. He had apparently purchased the stock of a closed dealership and I think that is where the numbering problem originated. The lesson is: look over every part you get very closely when you receive it. And, if the price seems too good to be true; it is.

I'm told that David Silver is having new downpipes made in the UK as the ones he has been selling are not bent correctly.

Good work.

If you haven't already, the area around the petcock should be re-surfaced carefully, as the petcock gasket goes on the outside of the mounting holes.

yes I cleaned the area around the petcock having said that the original petcock disintegrated when I removed it and tried to strip it down. The bowl just crumbled away. There is nothing left of it so I made my own replacement I found a piece of alloy about 3/8 inch thick, cut it into the triangle shape and drilled and tapped a hole in the centre and bought a new fuel tap off a pit bike cost about £5. I know im a skinflint.
Made a pair of carb covers until some originals turn up.
On the subject of parts that don't fit, They are only the screws holding the rear lens on but they were the wrong thread. Bought a new lens with new screws but had to run a 3mm tap through the lap holder to fit the screws.
The bike is ready for mot now.
