Oil LeakOil LeakI have an oil leak on the right side of my CL77 engine case. It appears to be coming from a small hole just above and a little behind the kickstart shaft. I am guessing that the splash from the transmission is coming out the hole. The parts diagram does not show the hole although it depicts a "breather body" pn 15730 259 000. I looked at he pictures on a 305 engine rebuild site and do not see that hole on the CA77 engine they were rebuilding. Am I missing a part? If I can't find one, would it be a bad idea to plug the hole? Could I rig up a different breather tube? Any thoughts appreciated.

There shouldn't be any oil inside the kicker cover. If your motor has head brothers the breather lines might run down there and that might be your drip.
Or you might have a seal out behind the cover and that is where it's coming from. There is no gasket so it's pretty easy to pop that cover off and take a look Oil LeakThe breather lines from the head are not causing the leak, nor is the kickshaft seal causing it. I removed the small cover at the top rear of the right side cover and was watching the area while the engine was running and saw oil drip from above the kickstart shaft. I could not see the referenced hole in the case, but it is in the area the oil is coming from. I recently rebuilt the engine and have since had the stator cover off several times and replaced the kickstart shaft seal. I am tempted to seal the hole with a wood plug or something similar to see if the leak goes away, but what I need to know is whether there should be a should be a breather valve pn 15730 259 000 in that hole. If so, does it install from the inside or outside of the case. Thanks in advance for any help.
