I just had some CB77 parts vapor blasted at Rice Relics. Turned out great. Its like I'm putting together a new engine. I have done the bead blast and walnut shells in the past but this process is better in my opinion. About $350 including shipping both ways. These were some ugly and dirty parts when they left.

My question is do they hold up though? If you spill oil, do they wipe off. Do they corrode easily, or turn colors with heat?

From what I've red it doesn't disturb the surfaces protective coating (clear anodize) so that would mean they are basically restored back to factory new correct?

In my experience it holds up great. If you spill oil on the surface it wipes right off and does not stain the surface. No discoloration from heat that I have seen.

The surface stays clean if you keep it clean. You treat it just like you would a new engine. New engines stay looking nice if you keep them clean.

No idea if vapor blasting will or will not remove anodize. I don't think any the parts on these old Hondas had any sort of anodize on them? At least not that I have seen or noticed.

I have had my cases vapour blasted here in the UK recently, when I asked about keeping them clean he told me he uses a household furniture polish (silicon type) on his, they clean easily and have lasted some years. That is my plan when I finally rebuild the engine.

Wiping some ACF-50 on the bare aluminum will also provide a shine and inhibit corrosion. A very small amount will last a long time. Regards, Chase

That sounds like a good plan!

I had my CB72 parts done at the Aqua Blast Center in Doncaster. Usually less that a week turnaround and very meticulous work.
