CA77 oil filter problem

Post by mike1969 » Tue Sep 16, 2014 5:07 pm

I removed the clutch side cover to get the clutch pack loose on my latest project. Put the cover back on then went to put the oil filter cover on and noticed the index pin is sheared off.
Looked in side cover to see if it was there but no sign of it. I have another filter to replace it with but I'm concerned as to what would cause this.
Any ideas?

Went to change the oil filter shaft and had to use vise grips to get it out, Had a heck of a time getting the washer off also. Tried to get my replacement shaft in the old filter and it wouldn't go. Had to use my entire filter which went together smoothly. Have no idea what was up with the first filter. No sign of scoring or anything unusual!?

I'm thinking improper assembly last time apart? any marks on the cover?

Spoke to LM on the phone earlier this evening that's what he suspects happened.
Should be ok with the replacement filter.
