Shaving a CB77 top triple clamp
Shaving a CB77 top triple clampSince CYB yokes are made of rocking horse manure, what's the acceptable alternative?
Is there enough meat on the underside that they can be welded up before shaving down the risers? I've looked at having a billet aluminum one cut, and it's about $160. It just looks a bit too modern.
I found a bike builder that is willing to CNC me a new top triple out of aluminum, recreating the style of the original as much as possible, just without the handlebar risers.
He anticipates the cost being between 100-150. Anyone want to jump in do a group buy? i can post a rendering of the part before he starts cutting, if anyone is interested. JSharp. Good to see you over here at teh home of all things CB72/77. I just started porting a CB77 head and thought it was time to come on back over here and see what's going on.
They can be welded underneath and cut off at the top and polished. The only possible issue is that welding filler rod is a slightly different color than the cast alloy. I have had a couple done on race bikes.
Good ta see ya back on teazer. ............lm
