Clutch cable from Scrambler Cycle for CL72

Post by qwerty » Fri May 30, 2014 1:35 pm

Has anyone bought and used the reproduction clutch cables for a CL72 from Scrambler Cycle in Wisconsin? They are $45 on eBay and I wanted a review before I bid on one. Mine is a 1965 - is there a different cable for different years?

here's the link:

Thanks

Hey Guys,

I had these made in Japan when I found that it was becoming increasingly difficult to find cables for the Scrambler. What may or may not be different than the cable on your bike is that these have the large cable adjuster on them.

These were made using original cables as patterns and are pretty darn close in look. Even the sections where it has double sheathing in wear areas appear to be correct.

I have the throttle, rear brake, front brake, clutch, and speedo cables. I actually have them available on my website a bit cheaper as I don't have to factor in ebay fees.

Satisfaction guaranteed. If you don't like the cable I am more than willing to accept returns.

I have only had these out there for about a week but the people that have already received them have left me positive feedback on them.

Thanks

OK guys, thanks for the comments.

Kevin - just ordered all new cables from you for my CL77. It is unrestored, but in general very good shape, maybe an 8 on a 10 scale. New cables will help.

Also ordered new tires, trying to go back to more original size. Went with Dunlop K70, could not find a 3.00 x 19 for the front. Thus, went with 3.25 x 19, hope it creates a little more space. The old 3.50 on it just looks a tad too big.

Went with 3.50 x 19 for the rear. The current 4.00 x 19 is too big, will not spin when on the center stand.

Bet the current tires are 15-20 years old, really cracked. Understand back in the day it was cool to go bigger, not want to go more original.

Highly recommend.
