Hey guys. I watched a video from a guy who I think is a member here (I couldn't find the =/-13min video again) that shows him rethreading a m5 .80 fastener to .90 with a m5x.90 die.
I tried this with poor results but it DID work, kinda...
The die will start to thread and just strip though several threads until it catches up to the .8 again.. I did this for my fender bolts so I wouldn't strip the welded bolts on the original 8 hole aluminum fender. I think most of the m5x.90 bolts on the bike are probably not in high stress areas so I used them here and may still do it elsewhere if need be.
I thought you guys/gals may have advice and/or could use this info to improve the process of getting these difficult or impossible to get fasteners.
Advice is appreciated. Thanks
