My recent acquisition, Nov. 69 Hodaka Super Rat

I should add, this was the typical "basket case", the frame is a real early Super Rat, the rest is a mixture of various models. It is missing the typical "pricey" parts, air filter, chain guards, and misc. bits. Any other Hodads out there?.......................................D

Here's my '71 Ace 100-based woods runner, like Dg's an amalgam of numerous donor bikes...a really fun, surprisingly torquey little bike to ride what feels like really fast in the dirt, putt down the trails.



Really enjoyed putting this together winter before last, it was really easy to work on compared to Ol' Blue...and riding and perfecting it since then...

Dg I have a spare air filter for Ace 100, don't know if it would fit on a Super Rat...



I told them they were cousins, they seem to get along really well...

They are great bikes, the reason they have such good torque is, the clutch is on the crankshaft, instead of the transmission.

How does that work?
Torque is a result of engine power delivery, in the case of a 2 stroke, port timing mostly.

Flywheels or other rotating lumps that store energy make it appear that an engine has more torque available as they help keep the speed steady during periods of varying load....
