Restoration - Concours Judging "Depth"

I've done some research to find out what judges look for and I understand the general process pretty well now, but there are a few questions I still have as to how "deep" judges look to find things to mark down for.

I know that they can't ask you to open something that requires tools to open, but it seems that side covers, with the knobs or pull-off types, could be fair game, or possibly routine inspection for a concours-level restoration. So, is it routine that a judge would ask to see my electrics under the side panels and take points for a missing rubber on one of the rectifier leads? Or if he saw a modern regulator-rectifier from Charlie's place, etc?

I'm considering upgrading my wife's Dream with electronic ignition and the nice halogen headlight upgrade, both of which require the reg-rec upgrade first. I want this because she wants to ride it to work on fair-weather days (40 miles round trip). I suppose if that's a judging problem, I could swap back and forth for shows.

I don't want to enter a show and and be completely blown out of the water for things I didn't even think about. Any other items that judges hawk over that we should consider before we totally embarrass ourselves?

Someone will come along and give you the answers - which I think you already know. As always the scoring will be based on perceived "originality" and personal preference. I've taken my 1966, never been touched, Matchless to shows to be told that it has the wrong wheels, exhaust, forks, handlebars.
