Back again this time with a 1961 CB77

Post by maaseyracer » Sat Feb 08, 2014 12:02 am

I just acquired a 1961 CB77 on eBay. The seller, a motorcycle salvage yard guy disassembled the entire bike. I noticed the engine cases. were early with the knob on the back. I then messaged the seller asking about the frame and serial numbers. The seller had the frame, a deal was made and the frame was mine. I waited on the engine cases (and a lot parts, all from this 1961 bike) until they closed and then purchased them. The frame arrived today. It really shows that it never hurts to ask.

Looking forward to posting more about this bike as the parts start showing up.

I was watching the auction for the early top triple clamp with the speedo/headlamp ring. Did you happen to get that piece?

Yes I did buy most of that bike, the things I did not get were the rear fender, rear brake plate, and crank/pistons. I was juggling 50+ auctions that ended within a second of them. Somethings slipped through the cracks.

From what I can see the red paint on the frame is in really good condition. However, there are a few spots that might need more than just a touch up, the junk black paint is easily flaking away without much effort. Most of what I thought might be rust spots are just caked on dirt.

I am still debating whether or not to completely repaint. Does anyone have a Powder Coat code and or supplier for the original red?

The rest of the bike should hopefully be here tomorrow.

FedEx just showed up. While the dog is impressed, my wife is shaking her head. Though this is no where near as bad as last time.
