cam timing

Post by jccgolfer » Mon Feb 03, 2014 9:21 am

Good morning, I'm new to this forum and I need cam help!!! I have a sinking feeling that when I re-assembled my 1966 cl77 cam chain that I did not do it right. Can someone tell me the easiest way to see if I'm on the right sprocket with the engine still on the bike. The "light method" that I read about is not working for me. If my stator is positioned at the "F" mark, should my cam mark be at 12 o'clock (that is 12 o'clock parallel to the cylinder, not as the bike sits on the ground? If I take the engine out and pull the head, is there a way to align it by looking at the the cam as it is visible from the top? I've done these before on later Hondas but this one is beating me up! Thanks Jay from Minnesota
