Don't let a few rusty parts keep you from owning a 305 dream. I restored mine and painted a lot of the chrome pieces with black epoxy black paint. It gave it a different kind of look. The mufflers are real expensive and hard to find. Go for the dream!

@swardlaw, rust doesn't scare me after working on and owning early 70's Honda's!

It turns out that the engine was completely taken apart years ago and the task of sorting out the bottom end is a bit much at that price. Also, the original red paint was covered (poorly) with black paint.
Most everything is there except pistons, half of the chain guard, tank emblems, one of the front shock chrome caps and whatever small bits flew the coop over the years.
$500 seems fair but I after looking at the boxes of parts, I couldn't justify spending more than $200. I guess I'll have to wait for the next "deal" to present itself.
If anyone is interested, I can pass on the info.
