New honda dream owner

Post by Prosuperstar » Wed Jan 22, 2014 5:20 pm

Hey lads I just purchased a Honda dream the other day. It didn't have a title and the last time it was registered was 1980. Tore the engine down and everything looks great besides the pistons being froze. So it's sitting and soaking right now till it gets freed up. I'm hoping someone on here can get me a ballpark on the year of this bike. Right now all I have is the frame number which is CA78 1032837 I read that a 7 digit number was after 1965? Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Year of bike

There is no way to know for sure. Judging by the 7 digits it could be a '66 or '67.

A while back I started trying to keep track of the different 7-digit numbers I ran across with the idea of getting ranges of which ones were 65, 66 and 67. The problem is they were titled when the dealer sold them so it was always a crap shoot. I gave up on that effort.

These bikes were produced before federal VIN statutes really kicked in so there was not really a "model year" like we are used to today (and even with cars back then).

I would guess it to be circa 1966 but that is only a guess. Tell your DMV you believe it is a '66. If they need more documentation report back and let us know what they want.
