CYB seat?

I posted this on the Honda twins site and didn't get that much info on how to authenticate the old CYB stuff. Were there any markings on the pan or something?
Also, wondering if it's a good idea to have a pro try and fix some of the imperfections or is this something where an unmolested version is more appealing to the buying public?
Any info would be great!

It would be nice to see the underside, but at first glance it looks correct. The heat-seamed "suede" material appears proper, with wider bands as they go outward. There were a number of slightly different versions, including those for the early short rear frame years. When new, there was a Honda sticker on the bottom with the part number, but those didn't stay on very long. Regards, Chase

The artificial suede material is called "Alcantara" and I am looking for some to rebuild an early original seat.

Yes, the heat-seamed Alcantara seems to be the Holy Grail of materials. When George Beale produced his RC174 6 cylinder replicas, he had some made in Japan for those seats. There wasn't enough left over for even one CYB seat. I have one seat that lacks a proper insert and have been searching for years, as has Brian Slark at the Barber museum. Plain Alcantara is available, and I considered making some sort of tool (perhaps using a soldering iron) to replicate the seams, but never persued it. Some Bridgestone seats had similar inserts, but those folks seem to be in the same situation. Regards, Chase

Great info guys! Thanks so much.
Any thoughts on the idea of reconditioning or not? The pan is lightly rusted, the inner-padding is starting to crumble and there is a small separation in one of the seams.
