Kicker Shaft Seal Leakage
Kicker Shaft Seal LeakageHello All -- Has anyone had problems with a leaky kicker shaft seal? It seems to leak between the shaft and the seal. We just replaced the seal and also used Yamabond on it (two days ago). The breather vent tube is fine and isn't blocked at all. What happens is when I'm riding at higher speeds oil accumulates on the drive chain and sprays all over the right side of the rear tire, as well as the right side of the rear fender and the right side of the back of the license plate. The reason I think it happens primarily at higher speeds (like 80mph+) is that I rode this morning to a town 75 miles away at lower speeds (60-65mpg) and when I arrived the underside of the right side of the engine and the rear wheel and tire were dry. On the way back home I was 'going for it' for a stretch and when I arrived home the underside of the right side of the engine was wet, and the chain was wet, as was the rear wheel, right side of the rear tire, and the right side of the rear fender was splattered with oil. The recently purchased replacement seal kit from Ohio Cycle is probably 35 year old NOS aftermarket, and that's where the seal that's presently in there came from. Are there a) BRAND NEW seals for this available, or b) is there something else that would be a better fix? Or c) should I just slow down and carry a rag with me???
Re: Kicker Shaft Seal LeakageThat seal is the same as the one on the shift shaft and a while back HONDA ran out of them. HONDA then issued more and of course raised the price.
Do you know the numbers on that leaky seal?. .........lm
Kicker Shaft Seal LeakageThe numbers on the seal itself are NOK-AC0519E.
Re: Kicker Shaft Seal Leakage??????????????
I was expecting. 14-25-7. ..............lm
kicker Shaft Seal LeakageWell if 14-25-7 is the one that is supposed to be in there, where do I find a new one? Is it the type of seal that could be found at a rubber seal supplier, or is it specifically a Honda seal? Is it still available new or is my only hope a 35 year old NOS one? Why would it be leaking at high speed? Is there a fix for this other than strictly replacing the seal?
Re: kicker Shaft Seal LeakageI can sell ya one that is NOS/OEM and not old at all.
Now reply direct to me and I will give ya a price. ..............lm
