As far as headlight relays I like to use these.

Smaller and cheaper.

+pos goes to 30
low beam wire to headlight to 87a
hi beam wire to headlight to 87
hi beam wire from handlebar switch to 86
-neg to 85

In the non-energized state 87a has power so the the power feeding the relay at 30 needs to be switched but in most applications it is.

So when using low beam the relay is actually not energized but passing power to low beam through 87a. When energized it passes power to high beam.

Just an update, received the podtronics unit from "racingnorton" on ebay and an AGM Motobatt MB9U battery from Bikebatts.com. I though about using industrial grade velcro to adhere the pod unit to the rear fender below where the oem rect. sits but instead bent up a 90* mount that is trapped under the battery and bends up vertically at aft end of battery and has the pod mounted on it facing rearward with wires facing left toward the switch. The pod came with instructions but on the back the seller recommended running new wires up from alternator and not connect to existing harness...for max output. I'll probably do that with matching color heat shrink so as it won't stand out when laced along side oem wiring...Mark

The mount plate is .050" alum. 3" wide with another 90* tab about 5/8" tall bent up at the front of the battery so this way the battery traps the mount. I only went to this much trouble so as not to drill or modify in any way the original bike so that at any time someone else could return to original.

Let me know how the pod works. I just wired mine up as well. But haven't riddin yet.

I see a 3 phase Podtronics reg rec on Ebay. Seems like it could be a good way to go. Has either of you run your bike yet?

Hey Davo,

That is for a 3 phase. I think you need a single phase. the bonus is the single phase is cheaper.

I have not tried these on an old honda but I have used them on brit bikes.
