New Guy with CL77New Guy with CL77I just purchased a 66 Scrambler yesterday and look forward to restoring it in the near future. It looks like a very nice example but has had a few things done years ago that I'll have to remedy. It'll need a new tank and both fenders. The fenders were bobbed, the badge mounts were filled with Bondo and the tank pad mounts removed. The speedo looks great with 1,820 showing on the odo. It may need new pipes too. The attachments I've attempted to add have been too large. I look forward to a good exchange with other forum members here. I have several other projects as well as several everyday riders. My Japanese contingent includes a 66 C100 Cub, a GL1000A and a Yamaha XS650B in addition to the 305.
Welcome to the 305 forum, and congratulatons on your new addition. I have found that if you take the time to add where you are located, you will probably get more responses to any questions you might have. There may be someone that lives near you that could help you with answers to the question that you might have about your project.
I have found this forum to be very informative and have had all my questions answered by using the search function on the left side of the screen in the yellow margin area, and by asking. The parts vary from year to year, and engine number to engine number so, the first thing that you might want to write down is your Frame number and engine number. If you look under the seat, (and you have the original wiring harness), there should be a tag that will tell you what year the bike is. Usually fefore people respond, they will need to know the bikes numbers. Good luck and good hnting for parts. Rickytic
new CL77Once past the bobbed fenders and tail lamp orientation, my eye stuck on the exhaust. Are those conduit connectors holding the pipe (VW?) extensions on?
Re: new CL77They're allen headed studs and the PO did say the extensions were indeed VW. I'm on the lookout for a new set of pipes and pipe shields. The ones on the bike need rechroming and maybe a little welding attention to the mounts. The PO said he had the originals with the shields and would mail them to me when he could find them. It's not something I'm really counting on. I plan to do a nut and bolt restoration soon.
