Newbie from Paris/France

Post by John Kat » Wed Jan 02, 2013 1:38 pm

Hi, I'm new to this forum but as I have a CB 77 in my garage, I thought it would be nice to exchange with other Honda fans.
My CB 77 must be a 1965 or later model but as I don't have the registration papers I don't know for sure?
My frame VIN is CB77-1051041
My engine VIN is CB77 E-1051050.
I restored the bike more than 10 years ago but never rode it since...
This was partly due to the fact it is not registered but also to avoid any disappointment I suppose?
The reason I bought the bike maybe 20 years ago is because I owned one when I was young.
It was my first real motorbike and I never stoppped riding since then.
Here's a picture:

John

Welcome to the Forum!

Lovely looking bike. Your numbers are from quite a late model but it's difficult to say as Honda used the same number sequence for the final years.

I am in the process of restoring a very rusty and decrepit CB77 and haven't ridden one since I was 14 - a long time ago. I'm hoping that it lives up to expectations.

Is it difficult to re-register bikes in France?

Yes, they make it difficult !
It's obviously done to block the traffic of stolen vehicles.
I should try to get a frame with it's registration.
If you hear of one in the UK, let me know?
Good luck with the restoration!
It doesn't seem too easy to find parts anymore?

John

You could try this one. Be careful as a lot of his stuff is from the US.

If you need any help with that - let me know.

Good Luck

Many thanks "G"for the input.
In the short term, I need to buy a few other parts to get the bike closer to concours condition...
I'll open a new thread to discuss compatibilty across the years.

Salut John Kat,

Currently I disassembled the fork to change the oil seal, but after removing the screws M8, impossible to get out the plunger.
I can not find in the forum topic on this point.
Thank you for your help.
