305 Engine Dolly

Post by hondadreamca77 » Tue Dec 18, 2012 1:45 pm

After wrestling my 305 engine in and out one time (only). I made the engine dolly pictured below, out of a Harbor Freight $11 movers dolly, two 2x4 pieces, and a 1x4 strip. It took 90 percent of the engine removal/install hassle out of a recent head gasket change. Otherwise these engines are heavy and awkward to handle.

Maybe this will help someone else. Just roll into place and tilt up and in.

I agree. Simple solution.

Always better to work smart than work hard.

Now go come up with one to yank a CL engine... please.

Rob

Snakeoil thats called alot of masking taqpe to protect the frame from scratches and a 12 pack of beer for you and your helper once the motor is in or out (whichever the case may be)

I use the plastic tubes which fit inside a golf club bag.
I cut them to length then split them so they can be placed on the center and lower frame tubes. ........lm

That's a great suggestion LM. I've used foam pipe insulation before, and really like it for conrods. I've found that the easiest way to pull an engine is lay the bike one its side. Same for installing.

Rob
