Motor mounts broke, fixable?

Post by mips » Fri Dec 21, 2012 12:09 pm

I have a few scrambler projects, but this one I wanted to do frame off and fully restore. It is a '65 with vin 100049xx I believe. Cosmetically it is very rough. Motor is seized, but the oil I drained didn't look too bad. Both top motor mount are broke. I understand one is replaceable. Not sure what to do about the other one... Or how much it might cost a shop to replace it. I've got a lot of NOSSs motor parts(new valves, pistons, etc) that I figured I'd use with this one. Should a abort or what? I will be reselling this one (I'm keeping my '67), but figured since I have a number of parts and it is a '65 that it might be worth it. Thanks

Can you post a pic of what is broken? The CLs only have one top engine mount, bolts to cyl head cover, and to frame.

maybe two sets of mounts are bad. I was talking about the lower ones that attach to the main case.

It won't let me attach, i keep getting an error.

Not good when both are broken.
If you have the parts I suggest you install the case (top and bottom assembled) and align the broken plate then wire weld them into place. ........

The usual fix for the rectifier bracket is to weld a flat washer on the broken side to form a new rectifier mounting hole.
