Fork Boots - 51611-273-020

Post by Hahnda » Fri Dec 14, 2012 3:56 pm

Looking for a set of new fork boots for the later model CL77-106xxxx with part number 51611-273-020. Classic Honda Restoration is currently out and I can't find any other source at the moment.

Thanks

So will the earlier fork boots work? part number 51611-273-000

I'm also a bit confused with this.

It says that they are for the late bikes?

I believe the early have a smaller diameter than the later also the early were held on by clamps and also slightly shorter in height or the other way 'round.

My Illustrated Parts Breakdown book says that part number fits fromCL77-1014496 to.......while part number 51611-273-010 fits from 1014496 to 1043096.
Part number 51611-273-020 fits CL77-1043097.
This is straight from my Honda Motor Company Parts Book. There is another boot that is no longer available, but book says you can substitute the later for the early.

Well I am going to try and answer my own question. I dug out an early front end I had. Those boots I counted 14 ribs and they use a clamp. It is shorter near the bottom than the aluminum slider boots. Part number 51611-273-000.

I then looked at my Scrambler which has the aluminum sliders but still uses the clamps. Boot is number 51611-273-010. I count 13 ribs.

Then I have the boots from the later CL77 I am working on. Part number 51611-273-020. Also 13 ribs.

Info says parts -010 and -020 are interchangeable.

So I am going to call or email Terry at Retro Bikes and see exactly what he has.
