SOME TIME BACK I RECALL SEEING A "PRIMARY BELT DRIVE" CONVERSION LISTED FOR THE CB77 ON EBAY.
ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS OR ABLE TO COMMENT.
I'M BUILDING A TRACK BIKE AND THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE AN EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO PRIMARY CHAIN FAILURE AT HIGH SPEEDS. I COULD DO THE CONVERSION HERE IN THE SHOP HOWEVER I'M A BIT RELUCTANT TO RUN A BELT IN OIL DUE TO TEMPERATURE. CAN THE OIL SPINNER BE BYPASSED WITH A RETURN AND THE CRANK AND MAINSHAFT SEALED TO ALLOW A DRY CLUTCH AND PRIMARY. ALSO ANYBODY GOT SPECS ON THE 5 SPEED CONVERSION. I'VE GOT GEAR CUTTING CAPABILITY (4 & 5 AXIS CNC) . MIGHT BE A POSSIBILITY.
PRIMARY DRIVEprimary chain / 5 spprimary failure ? don't hold your breath waiting for that. Sounds like an expensive fix a non problem.
I had the 5 speed in my CB77 for a time many years back, 1st VERY tall , about like 2cd in the 4sp. Think about 1.9 / 1. Very close ratio. You didn't say what bke or what kind of track. Consider the X job instead. Joe
