Honda 1963 CL72TroubleHi
The bike is now completely stripped. The engine was advertised as seized !!!!!! Found the engine with no pistons, the bores completely shot and metal filings in the bottom end. Not good at all....... I have sourced a replacement bottom end and am now in the process of trying to sort out a new barrel pistons etc. Other than that the bike is a great find and completely original in every way. On the chassis number side should the engine number match the frame number. Jonathan Frame and Engine NumbersThe frame and engine numbers should be within about 200.
Re: Frame and Engine NumbersNot actually. ....lm
Re: Frame and Engine NumbersPlease describe what the spread should be so no one will be misled. Re: Frame and Engine NumbersOK I have NEVER answered a question before, so I shall qualify my answer that I THINK I am fairly close to proper answer - - - But I have asked a lot of questions, so here goes.....if numbers are close, like apart by 50 or 60 or so, it's a matching numbers bike ! Ron
Re: Frame and Engine NumbersI've worked on ones which were/are over 300+ apart. ........lm
Re: Frame and Engine NumbersThank you for straightening me out. I have seen that 200 figure referenced a number of times on this site and thought it was correct. I have said it before and you just keep proving it: You are the smartest guy I know of when it comes to this stuff. Thanks for helping everyone.
