New CB77 Owner: Where does the gas tank equalizer plug inNew CB77 Owner: Where does the gas tank equalizer plug inI am new 64 SuperHawk owner. By VIN code mine is a late 63. My right side gas tank equilizer tube just has a capped hose on it. it connects to nothing.
I have a 68 S90, a 67 CL90 and a 72 CL175. All have dual equalizer tubes on the tank with a hose between them. I do not see where I plug this in to balance the volume on both sides of the tank. It would make sense if the petcock had a 2nd "IN", but it doesn't what am I missing?
Re: New CB77 Owner: Where does the gas tank equalizer plug ia correct petcock? just not lookiing in right place? the crossover tube connects to the petcock up high on the inside and allows fuel flow to carbs when lever is in "reserve" position. or you can leave both plugged and just lay bike over on left side when you run out of gas... petcockjust happen to have a couple...crossover connector spigot is at upper left of petcock body, what it's leaning on. here's what two of them look like all took apart...spigots up here... more pics of things taken apart here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29069113@N ... 3238972327 you're welcome -- Lee '62 CB77. I remember reading about this issue before. It takes a certain petcock to hook up the reserve fuel line you are talking about. If its capped off, then the previous owner probably never used his reserve tank rather than buying the correct one. The one in JLee's photos is the correct one.
It may be worth noting that when that fuel line is connected, its next to impossible to simply loosen the seat mount, pull off the fuel lines, and remove the tank without that particular fuel line dumping fuel everywhere. Its possible that your bikes previous owner got tired of mopping up fuel and capped off the reserve to prevent it.
