Crankcase cover grease fittings...

Post by bellabx » Wed Apr 11, 2007 1:05 pm

Are the GREASE FITTINGS, on the drive side crankcase cover of a CL, PRESSED or SCREWED in. If any of you have allready done this replacement, I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

They're pressed in. Doubtful if you'll get it out without tearing it (the fitting) up though. Ohio Cycle has new ones.

I just bought three...One for the case and two for the swingarm.

BTW, I removed the one on the case by using a GOOD pair of small vise grips, gripping the thin flange right next to the case itself. Care must be taken though not to gouge the case with the jaws of the grips. You might mask off the case with masking tape prior to trying to remove the fitting. I twisted and pulled at the same time. It came right out. Same method was used on the swingarm pair. Good luck.

l will probably just put the originals back in. They came out clean, and are still in good shape. I just wanted them out of the way while refinishing the side cases.
