vin numbers that match

Post by m wentz » Wed Sep 05, 2012 11:00 pm

I recently purchased a 1963 cb72 which I am having delivered to me later on this month. Being new to the older vintage honda's I have a question that I know the rest of the group can answer. I have read in many places that the numbers, chassis and engine should be close. This bike has identical frame and engine numbers. cb72-311282 and cb72-e311282. Do most bikes have close numbers or is the norm idenitical numbers. Thanks for the input. Mark
