I don't think ANYTHING is getting that stub out. I'm planning to pull the whole steering stem and take it to a proper machinist. Probably after I get the top end apart, since it will likely need attention.

A typical easy out is tapered. If you think about it as you apply pressure to the easy out it twists itself in and actually makes the stud or whatever you are trying to get out tighter. Thats why most easy outs break off. Snap On tools makes some straight splined easy outs which work much better because you are appling the same pressure as if the head was still on.

All that being said the most effective way to get your stud out at this time is to find someone that has a good wire feed welder (and knows how to use it) have then plug weld a nut to the broken stud let it cool before you put a wrench to it tap on the end with a hammer and it will come right out. THe heating then cooling process will actually shrink the stud then the light tapping will help break the scale loose

I guess you should use some bolt loosening liquid like PB blaster which will will help you to free up and break loose rusty nuts and bolts. I hope this method will help you.

I did. PB, then acetone/ATF. I didn't bother to mention it, because it seemed obvious considering the other threads I've participated in where we discussed using the AA combo on the pistons. I still haven't gotten them loose.

That suggestion to weld a nut onto the stub thru the hole of the nut is pure genius! I cannot believe I've ever heard or seen that done before.

I personally hate EZ outs, expecially the small ones.

You may find you'll have to cut those pistons out. I soaked a piston for 2 weeks, tried all kinds of heat cycles and it just would not budge. Even when I had the piston dome removed and had sawn thru one side of the piston, it still would not budge.

regards,
Rob
