Question on Emgo Dunstall pipes....

Looking at a set of Dunnies for my 69 305 Dream. Question is: after looking at them, would you just connect them to the head pipes? Would that be enough to hold them on? Where else would you connect them for more support?

Know this question has been sitting out there for a week or so, but I'll take a stab at it, as I've had many an EMGO Dunstall on my SuperHawk.

I'd highly recommend additional mounting points -- simply using the clamp (if I think that's what you mean) to the head pipe won't do it. Trying to remember the setup of the Dream, but I think you could utilize the bolts/nuts that mount the passenger pegs. The mufflers should have a bar with holes in it that attaches to that mounting channel on the backside of the muffler towards the back. As you are surely aware, our bikes have some vibration to them, so any additional mounting points you can add to the mufflers, the better.

One note of caution with those EMGO's -- that mounting channel seems to be their Achilles' Heel, in that the face of the channel tends to fracture, and I think it's due to the vibration of our bikes.

I agree with Vince. I have no experience on 305's but I run a pair of Dunstalls on a T140V Triumph. You need something to support the weight of that muffler and it needs to mount to a frame component or something attached to the frame. No mounting to swingarm for obvious reasons.

Another potential problem with Dunstalls is the nuts holding the baffle in place can loosen and you can lose the baffle on the road. Never happend to me, but I know others who have suffered this problem.

I don't think you want to mount the muffler to the swing arm (foot peg).

I got these (from a different vendor) and the single mounting tab provided works fine.

They are not the highest quality, but for the money, not that bad for a daily rider.

They do mimic the original shape somewhat, and sound just right with a couple extra holes punched thru the baffles from the inlet end.

I have no experience with this vendor.
