67 ca77 questions

Post by callaghandream » Mon May 28, 2012 9:23 pm

hello everyone i am new to the forum and know very little about motorcycles. I recently purchased a 67 dream for 400 dollars, my dad helped me clean the carb, then i bought a new battery and spark plugs and the bike stated right up and ran fine.

My problem is after a short time the bike begins running very rough and losing power. After checking the spark plugs i see that i keep fouling them. Ive tried to run the bike with carb open and closed but neither seems to work.

if anyone can help i am very green and feeling a little overwhelmed but i would greatly appreciate it, thanks everyone - josh

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you got a deal on the bike....how about some pics?

What did you set the floats at? Should be 26.5mm.

Does the float valve actually stop the flow of fuel when closed?

Sometimes the bowl gasket will foul the float and keep the valve from closing.

Did you note the jet sizes on the carb? Should be 35 pilot and 120 main.

Needle should be in middle slot.

Did you clean the small tube from the carb inlet to the pilot circuit?

Remove all jets and holders, and make sure all holes were clear?
