The nut is on wrong side in but ya have it installed and if the inner tab is still good no problems.
(see the rounded edge is to allow the tabs which face our to not pressure them as the sharp edge does) ..................lm

thanks for the confirmation loud mouse! im about to head down to do more work this morning. thought id share yesterdays brief work as well. got the valves, keepers and springs installed quickly thanks to my good friend tyler who got me interested in motorcycles in the first place. pic below.

got the cam back in with rockers and cam chain riveted with all the marks up at TDC. going back today briefly for some more work....

I'm no master engine mechanic but through my experience here and learning from lm, I'd say this would be a good time to make sure your cam isn't installed 180 degrees out. It's a real bummer ad easy to accidentally do if your Not familiar with this engine. I got lucky with my first cb77 rebuild but it doesn't hurt to take a second and look. But you said you already "riveted" your cam chain ? That means you don't have the kind with the release clip ? That'd suck if it was 180 over and you'd have to break the chain to fix it .

well im not familiar with this engine as some. its my first total engine rebuild, so you could say im new, lol!

ive followed bill silvers guide to the letter upon re installation. i must have read and re-read everything a million times before clamping down on the rivet style master link.

how do i tell if ive placed the cam 180 out as you say?

also things are now a little far for checking that now lol... but im certain in the cam to crank timing, the master link is resting above the 0 punch @ TDC, and the advance cam is facing the right way as well.

dont mind the mismatched valve covers, ill get myself a matching set. although ive seen vented valve covers somewhere. are these still available?

tappets set up correctly so everything seems alright with the engine. going back today for more shenanigans with a better camera... pics soon.
