FusesFusesHere's a quick question. I broke a fuse re-connecting my brake lights, touched a wire to the wrong spot and it sparked. Anyways, my room mate has a fuse that's rated a lot higher than the 25A one I had in. I figure if I use a lower-rated fuse, I risk blowing out from riding, but if I use a higher rated fuse, the only risk is having that fuse in when I'm doing things like disconnecting wires, or anything that might trigger the smaller, normal fuse. Any downsides to running the bike with a higher rated fuse for the time being?
The bad thing about running a higher amperage fuse is, if you do have a short to ground the amperage can exceed the capacity of the wiring/circuit and melt wiring together. Not worth the risk to me over a fuse .
I think I'm running a 15 amp. My dad showed me a trick of wrapping a fuse in aluminum foil. Works in a pinch if your on the side of the road. 64' CB77
65' CB160 Cool, I've never shorted anything to ground unless I was fucking with the wiring, so as long as I'm not doing that, it won't short and I'll be fine. That's a good trick though, I'll keep that in mind for next time. I was using a 25A fuse, and that one went as well, now i'm using something gnarly, that my room mate uses in his guitar amplifier, but it'll do for now.
