Clutch won't engage after putting in new springs (cb77)

It was my understanding that there is no right or wrong number, necessarily. Could be a 4, 5 or 6 disc setup and the variable was the thickness of the friction discs.

Mine had the wrong number that the PO stuck in there, and I couldn't figure it out until I got on the phone with LM and worked it out.

I would have never realized someone put the wrong number in there.

I think thats right.

LM had me put the different ones in there until it was right.

I do think there is a stock "right" number for each clutch.

I just wanted to pass on what I learned -- just because there is X many in the bike, it aint necessarily the right number.
