Neutral Light Modification for a much brighter light

Post by hillhudson » Thu Mar 15, 2012 4:30 am

hey all,
so i thought i'd share my Neutral light Mod with everyone,
after riding my cb77 all summer i noticed it was hard to see my neutral light in the daytime and even at night, if i was under a bright street light at a stop i still didn't feel like it was bright enough.
I love to dable with electronics and so i put together this little LED Neutral Light, Image

I took apart the 12V bulb i had in my headlight bucket, ditched the glass bulb because i mainly wanted the housing on account of the neutral light bracket in the headlight bucket and the port on the wiring harness needed to all be left alone. I bought some super bright LED's that call for 3-4 volts, soldered an appropreate resistor and oneway diode to the hot point on the LED, threaded that hot line into the old 12V bulb housing, soldered it to the housing nipple, then soldered the LED ground the side of the housing, bent up the LED to fit in the Neutral light bracket and BAM! extra bright LED Neutral light!

Thanks guys, I'll post a parts list and a diagram for putting it together for the people that want to make it but aren't sure where to start. I'll get that up ASAP! Along with the step by step for modding the speedo lights as well!

Cheers

How about kicking that entrepeneurial spirit up a notch and whipping up a finished product for sale? I'd buy one.
