Ok this has been done a hundred times, but I need to do it again...
I have checked the other posts and they are all very helpful, except the links they provide are old and no longer work.
I have a 1963 CA77 engine number CA77E312057.
I beleive this means it is the earlier type that cannot use the 12 N9-3A battery because the battery bay is too small.
Has anyone found a good replacement for the earlier type battery?
If so could you post the make and model number?
The previous answers to this question lead to ebay links that are no longer valid.
Cheers,
Greg

Wisco JB-2. You just missed this one and a few others on ebay. They come and they go on ebay all the time.Greggie-e wrote:Ok this has been done a hundred times, but I need to do it again...

I recently bought one of the Wisco JB-2's from the seller on Ebay for my '63, it's the perfect one, maybe the only one that fits. There are two sellers recently--one for around $45 and one in the $60 range plus shipping. Same battery on both. They ship dry and I paid about $5 to get acid put in at a local Interstate battery dealer. The auto supply shop wanted over $20 for a big container that I'll never use. I'm sure there are some new sealed gel type that will fit in there but may not have the amps. I didn't research it yet since these are still available and the price isn't bad. I just paid about the same for a Chinese sealed one for my 750.
BTW, I searched all over the web for that Wisco JB-2 or the MC4-12 to see if it was available elsewhere for less, but that was the only place that had them.

Thanks guys
I can now do some research!
Unfortunately the ebay listings are not much good to me
I will see what I can find here in Australia as generally people do not tend to post batteries overseas and when they do the shipping is pretty expensive!
Also shipping from the US can take up to 45 days to get here. Something to do with the US customs.
Shipping from the UK tends to take about 10 days.
Cheers,
Greg

I went to our local battery world with the dimensions of the space available for a battery.
Upon testing the previous battery only had 8 CCA's (cranking Amps) when it should have had 80 or so.
I went with a YT9B-BS
Specifications are:
SA M/Free fill & no spill 12v 8A 100cca Left Hand Positive 150mm x 69mm x 102mm 0.6Kg
It has the terminals around the wrong way, but so did the previous battery I had in there. It is also a little taller than the battery that was in there, the other dimensions are the same, so I will let you know how I go.
