Well, that's what I was told, but maybe it's incorrect - I did some searching online and can't find any specifics on what exactly they look for when inspecting bikes.

Is it your understanding that I could just patch the holes and get it to pass? If so, that'd save me a lot of hassle and money trying to replace them...

Where are the holes? If they're under the bike, just patch em. No one gonna look at the exhaust.

muffin shop

Guys at the Muffin Shop (no muff too tough) here in Austin brazed mine up for me in nothing flat and didn't charge enough in my opinion. Passed inspections at two different places since then.

That's great news! I've actually used muffin in the past for some of my hot rods.... Well, since I've already got new headers on the way (and that's where the really noticeable hole was) and since these mufflers look great if you don't crawl underneath them, I think I'll try just replacing the headers and seeing if it'll pass inspection with the old mufflers still on. If not, I'll hopefully be able to just get them repaired.

Thanks, everyone, for the advice!

It should pass just fine as long. Think of all those "choppers" that run strait pipes. I don't think an inspector would even look twice at your exhaust.
