right crank bearing

Post by davomoto » Wed Jan 11, 2012 8:39 pm

I'm just starting on my 63 CB77 engine, # CB77E-311186. The right crank bearing shaft has some pitting, caged roller side. Is there a replacement bearing that can be used, similar to the left crank bearing? Part or bearing number?

Thanks, Davo

Doing some searching on the internet, it looks like 91002-259-010 is a ball bearing for that side, instead of the roller bearing, also shown as 63062. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks, Davo

Thanks Ed! Looks like that is a readily available part. I'll try ordering from the dealer in San Francisco.

It's a cheap (if possible) fix for a bad crank bearing surface. ...........lm

Yeah, that's what I was thinking! I checked another 63 crank that I have, and one of the inner bearings has pitting :-( . I thought I remebered you answering a post a long time ago about the same subject, and figured it would be the way to go!

Back to working on this motor. I got the ball bearing, andf it has a metal shield on one side that faces the crank when installed. Is this correct, or should the shield be removed?

Thanks, Davo
