Rusty Bikes is my name and Rusty Bikes is my game. I have a natural radar for anything with 2 wheel, with or without an engine. I have had many vintage Hondas (50, 90, 160, 350) and a Triumph 650 in the past and have been missing it, I am also into Mopeds and have a custom 1979 Motobecane project and a 1967 Bianchi folding Moped. I always wanted a Dream 305 or a Scrambler, now I have the Nightmare 305 Scrambler! Some one had this bike stored rotting in the yard for many many years. They put it out on the trash the other day and I just about had a cow when I saw it. I seem to be drawn to the hopless cases. http://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/discuss ... 010389.jpg The seat was rusted in half and the tank was missing. Practically Every thing that should move was frozen except the front wheel and steering. The back wheel was locked till I tapped the brake levers to release the brakes. Slowly but surly I am getting things moving again. I sprayed oil into the cylinders and let it sit, put the trans into 1st and started to rock the bike front to back till rusty water spray out of the spark plug hole and onto my garage wall. Nice. Now I am able to turn it over with the kick start. I have no battery and no key for the ignition but was able to produce a spark on one side and found the condenser to be the cause. The carbs are now off and I managed to remove the slides without damaging them. So it's in a state of arrested decay. My plan is to rebuild the top end, make all the stuck parts move again and get it to be rideable as a rat bike, perhaps with a polished aluminium tank and a solo seat, stripped down to the bare esentials. The frame is crusty so it will never be a show bike. Rusty

Someone will have to educate me about 180 vs 360 cranks. I have a good idea what it meant to configuration but what does it mean in terms of power and smoothness. In other words why are there diffrent configurations. Anybody have a wave file of the 305 scrambler engine running? Rusty I tell you I have been literally dreaming and thinking of a project like this for the past few months. Wierd.
That's funny, I have a project in just about the same condition as yours. Mine blonged to my old man, and the lsat time it was run was right before a flood in 1977. It had been sitting outside ever since. When I found this sight I started asking pretty much the same questions about Identifing you are. You can check for a tag just behind the tank on the wiring harness for a # but chances are it won't be anywhere near readable. I got this link off of someone here....
