2 different looking primary chains?
2 different looking primary chains?I bought another primary chain a couple of years back. It looks very different from the one on it now, however, looking at other posts, my current running chains looks like the odd one. The one on it now seems quite wide, as in, you move it sideways on the sprockets a quite a large distance. It also seems like a much lighter weight chain. Guess I'll swap them out. There's a bit of light rust on the new chain, but I think (hope) its fairly ok. Here's the 2 different chains. Anybody else run across this? Thanks, John.

The part number did change somewhere along the line but I don't think the change was that drastic. I'm sure someone else will chime in here, but I would use the one that you bought. And if it's new, it will be a tight fit going on, especially if your sprocket and splines aren't too worn - but it will go on. -48
Its not that hard to get them off. Use a hammer and dull chisel on the crank nut (regular threads). Just a snap ring on the clutch. Pay attention to the assembly order and orientation of the sprockets and washers etc. on the crankshaft. Put the clutch, chain, and crank sprocket back on all at once and be sure to bend a tab over the nut to lock it in.
Anybody out there seen a primary chain like that?
