1965 Scrambler - Hello to everyone new to this forum.

Post by dave305 » Sat Dec 10, 2011 10:15 am

When i was 15 my Dad bought me a new 65 scrambler, that was back in the day when you could get a motorcycle license at 15 but had to be 16 for a auto license.
I recently purchased a 66 i think that's what it is and i now have it striped down to a basket case. During dismantling i noticed a couple parts that i need that might be hard to find, 4 tappet caps and left rear brake hub (threaded mounting for brake cable broke) I haven't figured out yet if i have the early or late brake hub. If someone could let me know how to tell the difference it would be appreciated.

Maybe when i get this thing back on the road i will feel 15 again.
Thank you for the help
dave

The early brake has 1 lever and the 66/67 have 2 levers at the brake cover.
Small Brake, Large Brake. ..............................lm

Don't be surprised if when you ride it for the first time Dave, you don't start giggling to yourself and start looking around for a girl to impress with a wheelie.

Also don't be surprised that it doesn't go nearly
as fast as you remember for when you were 15
(Probably because of the extra 50 to 100 pounds
you're asking it to haul a;-)
