CA77 Engine boring dimensions

Post by redlinerob » Mon Jan 29, 2007 9:13 am

I am having my cylinders bored out to accommodate .75mm o/s pistons and rings and I wanted to confirm that my measurements are correct to give to the machinist. Would you knowledgeable gentleman tell me what numbers you would use so I may compare them. I once let a machinist determine this on his own and I was left with a loose motor. As always, thanks guys.

bore dimensions for .75 o/s pistons

Post by redlinerob » Thu Feb 01, 2007 6:29 pm

I assume the measurement will be the piston skirt dia. (60mm) + the .75mm o/s piston for a bore of 60.75 mm. I am showing the repair limit for the piston to cyinder clearence .06mm. So I will ensure the machinist does not exceed 60.81mm. Preferably 60.75 to 60.76mm to be equivalent with the OEM quality standard! Is this right?

piston fit

measure the piston near the bottom of the skirt. find the largest dimension. add .0015 in. That should be the finished bore size.
