grounding issues on newly painted frame

Post by big-b » Tue Oct 04, 2011 7:22 pm

What gets grounded to the frame besides the condensor and the negative battery cable? I'm having electrical problems. My CB 77 was completely repainted including taillight, headlight, frame. Does paint have to be stripped from the mounting points of the head and tail lights? What about where the ignition switch goes through the mount on the frame, could there be grounding problems there on a newly painted frame?

grounding

Brian,
There should be a ground wire that comes from the headlight bucket that would connect to the frame under the tank. At least the cl does and I can only assume the cb does as well. All common grounding points I like to strip clean for positive contact at least to some degree. I don't believe the switch needs grounding. Rusty

I would check the wiring diag to make sure you haven't missed one.
Looks like the handlebar, rectifier, tail and stoplite all need grounding also
