Carb Removal-- 67 305--

Post by Tracepete » Sat Oct 01, 2011 7:59 pm

Is there a trick to taking off the carb? I removed the nuts off the bolts, but can't get it to move at all. I don't want to ruin the gasket, but I'm thinking it's part of the problem. Shouldn't the carb come off fairly easily?

Hi and yes, it should come off very easily. Assuming we're talking about a CA77 with a phenolic spacer between the carb and head, the stock setup is just two o-rings as you can see in your parts manual. It's possible somebody used gasket sealer, Hondabond, etc. during a previous assembly. You could try a little heat from a heat gun to loosen that up, but I would just try to do it by hand. Maybe a light tap with a rubber mallet...

Carb removal

Hopefully you pulled the rubber air filter hose that goes into the frame to the air filter. I remove the battery to get the air filter out, then pull the rubber hose that feeds air into the back of the carb, then remove the fuel like and plug it ---to 10mm nuts and the car basically falls out into your hands.
