spokesReplate or newI have read many post on replating here and in many classic car forums and I just am not sold on that Caswell system. Has anyone had any experence with the spokes on Ebay from Superior Cycle? I saw a post on here the other day and I am not really sure if the person liked them or not. I sent a message to the seller and they claim they are Honda spokes with original finish. But, for $50 front and rear the flag goes up.
btw- is there a spell check in this forum? Yes, I bought them. Compared them to my old crappy looking originals, put a few in the rim, then decided to learn how to home plate (my own materials, not a prefab kit ). I am very happy how they turned out, original. Yes, it was way more of an effort and time, but learned a lot that I can apply to other parts and other bikes. The other thing was that they just didn't fit right in the hub, would the work.......yes........but!
replating postsOk, time and effort I have an abundance of and I would love to replate things because I have several old cars that would look fantastic with replated screws and brackets. But, I have never been able to find the post I think it was written by Wilf, forgive me if that isn't the correct user name, but seems like a battery charger and some chemicals will make it happen. Can some body help me find that post?
...and thanks for the input on the spokes I have spent a lot of money on things that are less than acceptable. Thanks G-man, I have read through that post several times until my eyes burned. I did however find the recipe for the bath finally and ready to give it a try. However, how was I to know Communist Calif would make it so difficult for me to get Zinc. I will be in NorCal this weekend maybe they will have some MossBoss or something otherwise off to Ebay. In my readings I have read that temperature is a factor with plating, but I didn't see it mentioned in this forum. Did I miss something or have any of you dabbled with temperature?
