petcock problem 305 cl77 year 1966

Post by 1966edward305 » Mon Jan 08, 2007 1:27 pm

can anyone tell me the best way to re-attach the inner piece (tubing) that comes out of the bottom of the petcock which you attach one of your two gas lines to. one of the tubes has come off with the gas line when i pulled the line from the petcock. given the material both the petcock and tube are made of, do i weld it back inside the petcock or solder it, i don't know.... thanks guys, eddie

Use anything other than hard steel.
Brass works well.
Mix a small amount of JB-Weld and put on outside of end that will be put back in place.
Tape the tube and set to bottom.
Wipe excess JB-Weld and allow to cure.
I've done this many times. ...........lm
