CL77 carb/vacuum

Post by Joe Branion » Wed Jul 27, 2011 3:05 am

I have a 66 and 67CL77. When I got them they both had the same problem. They wouldn't take a quick rev of the throttle, they would cough. Tickling the throttle then it would rev some.. I took it to a local shop and he said the vacuum needed to be equal on both carbs and he drilled a small hole in each carb manifold and and gaged both so they were equal. Runs great but has anyone ever heard of doing that?

What he did was to synch the carbs the same way that most more modern bikes are done. As long as he blocked off the holes, it was a good call.
