thanks for info, Davo. Of course I had to run out and check the taillight. It seems to be more of a rectangle, with a round part at the bottom. Is this the correct one? Its in pretty good shape, so I probably wouldnt change it. Good thing I looked tho, its missing one screw and about ready to fall off! I'd better go over this with a wary eye and catch all of the loose or missing bolts and screws. I noticed there are some screws missing from the side cover on the engine too.

I browsed this site for picts of the oval taillight, mine doesnt have that type. Not that its a big deal.
Also, on our craigslist today, there are two 305 Dreams for $1500 for the pair. Not running but they appear to be pretty complete. I got my endorsement on one of those. A long, long, long time ago.
If anyone is interest, let me know, I will post a link.

Interesting about the tail light! You may well have a 66, that someone had the fenders chromed after purchasing. Pics are worth a thousand words, so post some when you get a chance.

As ya show the numbers on your bike I don't need to be concerned with numbers on the wire harness or shape of the tail light to know the bike was issued in 1967.
A simple look at a parts book will show your bike has the correct tail light as HONDA changed the design at bike 1056084 which was many bikes after yours was issued.
The numbers (1966) on the wire harness DO NOT GIVE PROOF of the issue year of a bike.
It does tell ya what year the wire harness was made and gives sort of an idea as to year the bike was issued during/after. ..........................lm

I just bought a Superhawk from a former neighbor, who finally let it go after 15 years worth of begging. He bought it in 1974, the title shows it as a 1970, which I know is incorrect. Ive been trying out to figure out which year it really is. It has a later model guage, chrome fenders, the seat with the up-turned front. I think the side cover were also chrome at one time, he painted them silver. The no. on the chassis is CB77-1052779 and the engine no. is CB77E-1052773.
It reads just over 5K on the odometer, but I don't know if its the original. My neighbor never rode it much, it mostly just sat in his garage.

Thanks for all of the info guys, I'm going to talk to the DMV and find out if I can get the year on the title corrected. that kind of stuff drives me nuts! I will get some picts of it this weekend, as I want some good "before" shots, even before I start cleaning it up. My goal is to go over the mechanicals and get it in running/riding shape first, but eventually I would like to tear it down and take care of the cosmetics during the winter months.
And speaking of picts, where is the best place on this site to put them? I will attach them to a post on this thread if nothing else.

Yeah, you can post them on this thread, or start a new thread under restorations.
