Cb77 ignition switch

Post by chipc » Tue Jun 14, 2011 11:32 am

Hello all,
I just bought a 63 cb77. I have ordered a replacement key, but while I wait for it I would like to know how to bypass the ignition safely.
QUESTION. The red (BAT) needs to connect to the Black (IG) for it to run, does the red and white (CH) have to be connected to the red (Bat) as well or should it be connected elsewhere. I am concerned that the charging system might get damaged if the lead to the rectifier goes nowhere.

If anyone knows please let me know
Thanks
Chip

Chip, welcome to posting and to our forum; please edit-in your location within your 'Profile' link at the top of the page.

Terminal CH has no internal connection; it is there purely as a connection stud between the battery +ve post and the rectifier +ve output. That wire is unfused and should have a varnished fabric sleeve. I strongly advise installing a 25-Amp fuse, close to the battery terminal.

This topic should be of help.

G'luck!
