New Guy from NC

Post by sbkittrell » Thu Jun 16, 2011 6:48 pm

My neighbor just gave me a 1967 CA77. It's blue but I don't think the paint is original. I think it might have been red. The seat is white. No major dings, but some surface rust on the the chrome. I know nothing about restoring bikes, but I'm hoping this one will not take a lot of work. I'm looking for a left side panel (battery cover), a knob for the right side panel. The throttle seems to be stuck or either the cable is broken, there is about a 1/4 turn in play in the throttle. Maybe the return spring is broken I don't know. Other than that it looks like a nice bike. Hopefully I can get it running with some help from you guys. It's been sitting for about four years.

4 years isn't bad. Pull the carb and clean it. Make sure it will roll over. It should. If it will roll over you'll likely get it started with minimal costs and time.

You'll likely have to clean out the tank. Yeah, it's been repainted.

Welcome to the forum.

There's a good chance your carb slide is stuck from sitting, and even if it's not, the carb needs to be removed and cleaned. There are several posts on how to do it if you do a search.

Ebay is usually a good source for missing parts, and the forum classified section as well.

For best search results, use the search function at the bottom of the yellow column to the left. Welcome and good luck!
