My left cylinder sounds funny and it smokes out the exhaust.
do i need to adjust the valves?

You may need to adjust the valves, but that is not the usual cause of smoke.

Black smoke is usually an indication of rich fuel mixture, and grey/blue smoke is usually excess oil from rings or valve guides.
